Miss Troy's Class
We have been working very hard and having loads of fun other the past few months.
We love to do science, history and geography in our class. After Christmas we brought in some toys and compared them to toys from long ago. Everyone agreed that toys nowadays are much more exciting and fun. They are more colourful and usually made from plastic.
As part of our science experiments we discovered how you could melt hard solid chocolate into a sticky fluid using hot water and then freeze it into a solid shape again using ice cubes.
We also experimented with water to test what materials would soak it up and what materials were water proof. We did experiments on our five senses too, sight, taste, touch and smell. We love to act like scientists in our room!
Maths is one of our favourite subjects. We work hard at it everyday. We made 2D shapes using different objects from around the room.
We measured different pieces of furniture and objects around the room using cubes, pencils, blocks and lollipop sticks. It was lots of fun.
We were very busy artists over the past few months. Take a look at some of our masterpieces...
Halloween was very exciting in the school. We all got dressed up and paraded around Adren View and the school yard. The hall was transformed into the magical place of Mr Willy Wonka's chocolate factory. We got to dip marshmallows into a chocolate fountain. MMMmmmm!!
Santa Claus came to visit us just before the holidays. We told him what we would like to get for Christmas. We were really excited!!!
'Roo', the new Christmas puppy was brought into class. She was nice and fluffy and she was very friendly.

Ms. Linehan's Class
We have been very busy in room 8 since September! One of our favourite things to do is write our own versions of some big books we read. We love illustrating the stories. Here is a picture of the four books that we have written so far.... Town Mouse and Country Mouse, The Little Red Hen, The Three Little Pigs and Little Red Riding Hood.
We take turns to bring these books home and read them at home with our Mammies and Daddies. We had loads of fun reading The Little Red Hen. We each made our own Little Red Hens and then we even baked bread in school. We were all very kind and helpful while doing this unlike the little red hen's friends! Look at our photos of making the bread!

Mrs. Byrne came to visit us last week. We sang our song for her - Thank you for the teaching. We also gave her cards that we made for her. She gave us a lovely sticker saying Mrs. Byrne says Thank you for everything! Some of them even had bees on them! We will miss Mrs. Byrne a lot but we are looking forward to working with our new principal Ms. Dowling!

We love doing art in room 8. Look at these pictures of some of the art work we have done since September!

We are learning loads of different things in Maths. We love doing live number lines where we each get a number card and we have to go in the right order! We had a competition to see who could write the most sums. Well done to Sean K and Niall, our winners!

We really enjoyed Friendship Week this year. We were all so nice to each other and we made loads of new friends too! We also learnt how to play loads of new games. Here are some pictures from that week!

Halloween was so much fun this year in St. Joseph's! The P.E. hall looked amazing turned into a chocolate factory! We think it should stay that way all of the time. We loved the chocolate fountain. Here are some photos from the day.

Our Nature Trail
We had good fun collecting leaves in the school garden in October. The leaves are green, yellow and red. They felt crunchy under our feet.
Halloween Parade
We had good fun at Halloween! We dressed up in special clothes. Our theme a Roald Dahl and we had a celebration in the hall.

Miss Waters' Class
We have been really busy in Room 7. We are doing very well in Senior Infants and are enjoying being with our friends.
We had a great day for the Halloween Parade....everyone looked great in their costumes. We learnt a few poems and chants about Roald Dahl for the parade, because Mrs. Byrne really likes his stories. The teachers and some children dressed up as characters from Roald Dahl stories. Our teacher was Fantastic Mr.Fox! The PE hall was turned into Willy Wonka's chocolate factory for the day and there was even a chocolate fountain. We got to dip marshmallows into the chocolate, they were yummy!
Pat "the Hat" Speight is a storyteller and he came to visit our school one day. He told us some brilliant stories, and he was very funny. He even did some magic. We'd love for him to come and visit us again.
We've been very busy doing Literacy Lift-Off. We read stories, do writing in our copies and learn all about words. Teacher and Ms.Slevin help us with our reading and words. Niamh, Emma, Lauren and Emily's mums help us too with our writing. Mr.Sammon comes helps us every Wednesday.
We have been learning some special songs for our celebration with Mrs. Byrne on Wednesday 23rd. We will all miss Mrs.Byrne when she retires soon, but we think she will have a great time doing lots of things that she likes to do. We think she might have picnics or read some more books or go shopping. We hope she has a good time.
Leonard teaches us gymnastics every Monday. Teacher thinks we are all getting very good at doing our exercises.
We were learning all about different jobs and we all shared what job we would like to have when we grow up. Here are the jobs we would like to have: teacher, soldier, hairdresser, a mammy, a famous artist, milkman, soccer player, builder, fireman, wrestler and an astronaut.
In art this week, teacher showed us a painting by a famous artist called Kandinsky. He was from Russia. His painting was lots of circles in different colours. We got to paint our own circle painting. They look really good, one teacher thought they were so good that they should be in an art gallery!

Ms. Doone's class
Senior Infants in Room 5 have been very busy during September! We have started Literacy Lift Off and are really enjoying our new books. We write stories every day. We can name all our letters really quickly and we love playing alphabet snap!

We count everyday and we can put our numbers in order. Look at us in our number line. We can write our numbers too.

We read all about Red Riding Hood and the big bad wolf this month! We did shared writing where we described the Big Bad Wolf. We mixed up the story and put it back together again and we also wrote about our favourite part of the story.

We did lots of fun art work too. We were cutting and pasting, we painted our self-portraits and we even did hand prints. We had great fun!

We also had time to play. We are really good at making floor puzzles and we like play doh too.
