Love Live Music

Activities + Events

Love:live music is a celebration of all forms of music in Ireland and aims to promote access to live music for all and to encourage active participation in music events. St Joseph's N.S. was delighted to join the celebration on Friday, 08 April with a host of musical activities. Teachers and children came to school dressed as rock stars, pop divas, Jedward, Rihanna, Hannah Montana, Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga to name just a few. Jade Dwane opened the concert playing a lovely melody on her violin and then we had a wonderful harp recital by a teacher on the staff, Ms Nicola Corbet and three of her talented students, Sophie Ryan, Muireann Carton and Mollie Wrafter. The girls entertained us all with beautiful renditions of popular songs. Then the children joined in with the very talented Tullamore College choir led by Mr Eoin Carton and accompanied by Andrius Kozlovskis. After a quick bite to eat it was time for the pupils of St Joseph's to take to the stage and this they did with great gusto! The Big St Joseph's Sing Song was held outside in glorious sunshine and began with over three hundred children and their teachers singing Tony Chestnut with hilarious actions. Then the children had great fun singing favourite songs accompanied by lots of very musical staff members. We had so much fun that the wriggly worms came up to see what was happening and who was dancing on their roof! They joined in doing the conga.

Mr Darren Fahy and his second class led the whole school in singing our very own school anthem, The St Joseph's Way. Mr Fahy and his team wrote, rewrote, edited and recorded the words and lyrics of this rap song that tells about life in St Joseph's and reinforces the school motto, Every child, Every chance, Every day. They were accompanied by the seriously talented Michael Oladosu on percussion. They have a podcast of this song and other musical compositions on the school website. stjosephstullamore.ie. Love Live Music Day was a resounding success and the children are bursting with enthusiasm to write and record more songs and tunes.
