Mr. Hynes' Class
The Twitters.
The children enjoyed a great morning's entertainment where "The Twitters" sang some children's folk songs. They used various instruments such as banjo, guitar and mandolin during their performance. Songs such as "The Runaway Train" and "Put Your Finger in the Air" went down a treat with the children.

Visual Art and classroom activities.
Since Christmas the children have been busy. We have been working hard on our letters and sounds. The children completed some lovely visual arts for their classroom. Winter is coming to an end and we are all looking for signs of Spring. We went on a nature walk looking for crocus, daffodils and new buds on the trees.

Visit to Cloonagh Pet Farm
When Santa was busy getting all the toys ready for the boys and girls we went to visit him at Cloonagh Pet Farm. We had great fun looking at all the different animals. The pet Labradors were very popular. It was difficult leaving them behind! Afterwards we went to visit Santa where we all received a toy and got our picture taken. Roll on next Christmas!

Miss Sheridan's Class
Hello everyone! It is such a busy time of the year. We are working so hard every day! We had lots of fun learning all about Humpty Dumpty. Poor Humpty Dumpty fell off the wall and we had to put him back together again. I think he looks really happy again!
We had a lovely Advent service in the hall on the 9th of December. We sang a song called 'Alleluia' and Ms Lambe played her accordian for us . She is really good at playing!
This month we are learning all about the numbers 1 and 2. We can show 1 thing and show 2 things. We can even hold up 1 finger without looking at our fingers! We have lots of ladybirds in our class. They like to creep around the room. We put big number 1's and 2's beside the ladybirds that have 1 and 2 spots. Its great fun! We can even make sets that have 1 and 2 things in them! We are so clever in Room 4!!
We were so excited when we heard we would be going to visit Santa. We thought up lots of questions to ask him but we were so excited when we got there that we forgot!! We went on a big bus to Cloonagh and sang all the way there. When we got there we saw some pets on the pet farm. There were chickens, hens, donkeys, Dustin the turkey, cute puppies, a white rabbit and even deer! We found a hole in a big picture and when we put our heads through it looked like we were Santa's elves! Even Ms Whiriskey had a go! We lined up to see Santa and we could hear his bell ringing. We walked in through a magic snow shower and inside the shed was Santa's bedroom. We know Santa is not lazy because he had made his bed! Then the magic happened and we got to see Santa. He was so friendly and kind. Santa gave us all a present, a hug, a big smile and a loud "HO HO HO Merry Christmas". We went into another tent that had a fun bouncy castle, a swing set, a see-saw and a place where we could write letters to Santa and even post them! We had such fun!!

We invited Rose the lollipop lady to come into our classroom so we could interview her and ask her lots of questions so we could learn more about being a lollipop lady and about Rose herself. This is what we learned:
She helps people cross the road.
She wears a bright yellow jacket so people can see her.
She has a sign in her hand when she is working.
She has 3 children.
She likes to eat bread and apple tart.
When she goes home she cooks dinner.
She likes to watch gardening programmes on television.
She starts work at 8:45am and finished at 3:15pm.
She has a dog called Scooby and he sometimes tries to eat her slippers!
Her favourite colour is blue.

We had science for fun on Monday and Tuesday. We played with water and put things into the water to see if they floated or sank. We played with materials and cut pieces up and stuck them a page. We had to find material that felt soft, hard, rough and smooth. We played with torches and checked what things light went through. It went through our school jumpers and cardigans but it didn't go through the table. We played with loads of different types of magnets, it was loads of fun. We even got two ring magnets and put them up to our ears and it looked like we had our ears pierced!!
Thanks to Ms. Gallagher and all the mammies and daddies who were able to help out. We had lots of fun!

Ms. Lambe's Class
Here are some photos of the children in Ms. Lambe's class from the Halloween Parade.

The first photo is of our autumn trees - when we used only our hands and fingers to paint using the autumn colours.
On Wednesday 19th October we had an invitation from Mrs. Healy. She invitied us to go to her room and make chocolate spiders!! At first we said we didn't want to eat spiders because we didn't think they would be tasty but then we found out that our ones would be made from crunchy noodles and chocolate. We helped follow the instructions and then we put them in the fridge so they would go cold and hard. We had to put a note on them to make sure no hungry teachers would eat them on us! At the end of the day we got our chocolate spiders just before we went home and we got our picture taken with our yummy spiders and our pumpkin who we have named Peppa! We had so much fun and hope Mrs. Healy will invite us to her room again for some more yummy food!

The first 5 photos are from when we went to the hall when the magician came. He was very funny and we laughed a lot. He did some cool tricks and we liked when he was spinning the plates up really high the best. The magician even sang a song for Mrs. Byrne and she loved it!
The last two photos are when Mr. Hynes brought in his giraffe called Cheeko. We listened to the story called 'Giraffes can't dance' - after we listened to it we now know that giraffes CAN dance!! Cheeko even went to teachers desk and did some work! We liked when Cheeko came to visit and hope he will come and visit us again.
We did leaf rubbings - we had to look at the colour leaves are in autumn and they were the colour crayons we used for our rubbings - red, yellow, orange, brown and some people found leaves with a little bit of purple on them. We had to follow steps to make sure we did it right:
1. Pick some autum leaves and leave them flat in a book.
2. Blu-tack the leaves to a piece of paper with the rough side stuck to the paper.
3. Turn the page over and feel where the leaf is on the page.
4. Get your autumn colour crayon and lay it flat on the page where the leaf is.
5. Rub the crayon hard forwards and backwards on the page and you will see the outline of the leaf coming through.
6. Use different colour crayons that are the autumn colours.
It was fun and now our leaf rubbings are on the corridor for everyone to admire.

Mr. Hynes class
Here are some photos of the children in Mr. Hynes' class. The boys and girls are busy cutting and pasting, sequencing the nursery rhyme "Baa Baa Black Sheep". There's also some photos of the children with their baby profiles. For friendship week, the children made a lovely friendship tree for the P.E. hall. Children enjoyed the story called "Giraffe's can't dance."

Miss Whiriskey's class
We made crocodiles for Roald Dahl day - we listened to the story 'The Enormous Crocodile.' We listened to the story Mrs. Wishy Washy and did a role play on the character. We also cut out the animals in the story and made puppets to retell the story. We drew our version of what we thought Mrs Wishy Washy looks like. There's also two photos from Friendship Week one is of a tree we made with monkeys 'we like hangin out together' and then the other is a photo of all the girls and boys in room 2.
