Home school is about building bridges with the parents and the school. Home visits are really the spade work of the Home School Liaison teacher. Setting up classes that are of interest to the parents is an important aspect of this work. A big part of Home school liaison is the local committee where parents, school and community meet to look at issues impinging on the children and to take concrete action, for example, child safety week is one project we are pursuing in the first week in February. Home school is about involving the parents in the life of the school, eg, the forward together reading programme, maths for fun, reading for fun and events like multi-cultural week. It is also about linking parents onto other organizations and with voluntary and statutory bodies. One of the main aims of home school is welcoming parents into the school and making them feel at home here.
Recently parents have been taking cookery classes focussing on healthy eating. Below are some photos.
