St. Joseph's National School

St. Joseph's National School began the Forward Together programme three years ago and parents who have taken part are delighted with it. First Class children are selected and together with their parents do an 8 week programme which includes reading, handwriting, emergent writing, knowledge of letter sounds, word analysis and word games. Self esteem improves through this experience of working together and parents' links with the school are strengthened. Children who take part improve their independence and confidence in reading and proceed at their own pace.

Classes take place in the Parents' Room with Anne Farrelly, Geraldine Buckley and Bernadette Clancy. Class teachers attend whenever possible.
